Take time each morning to lay out your ground work for a productive day.  You may already have a morning routine, but I’d like to share with you some tips that may help.

Your body knows how much sleep it needs to restore and repair itself. You work hard and it takes a toll on your body. End your day at a reasonable hour and go to bed. Not only do our bodies need rest, but so do our minds. Get the adequate amount of sleep so you can wake up refreshed and have mental clarity to start the day.

2. Start Everyday with Intent and Purpose: Starting your day with a clear idea of what you want to do changes EVERYTHING. Have you ever had one of those days where you overslept and feel like your day started without you? Your phone is telling you how many missed calls you’ve had and the email and texts are rolling in. Silence your phone and take a few minutes to quiet your mind.

Breathe deep 10 times, being aware of your breath going in and out. Focus on your breathing, clear your mind and focus on what you want your day to look like. What is your intention for today? What is the one thing you want to accomplish and accomplish well? Now, get after it.

3. Physical Activity-Move. You don’t have to have a gym membership to be in great shape. The Internet has millions of videos to help you achieve the type body you want. Find a class to go to once a week if you want some social interaction and accountability. Your body is probably sitting at a desk a large part of the day, so take it out for a walk or run. Your body will thank you for it and you’ll receive mental clarity even with a brisk walk around the neighborhood. There is only one you so take care of you.
