5 Simple Steps to Increase Your Self-Worth and Your Net-Worth

So what is self-worth? The World Book Dictionary defines self-worth as a favorable estimate or opinion of oneself; self-esteem.” The World Dictionary recognizes the distinction in concept but not meaning. You can view self-worth as a measure of the ability of our Spirit or True Self believes in ourselves – what we are capable of. Self-worth comes from a source INSIDE of us. We create it through faith, by acting on the sole belief that we matter. Self-worth is the foundation of our ability to believe in ourselves and value that we possess.

Self-worth is a portal through which self-esteem is received.

Self-esteem and self-worth are vital beliefs for empowering oneself. A valid sense of self-worth is necessary in order to attain peace, love, joy and power. Without self-worth, doubts and fears will persist until they invalidate our dreams and vision, and undermine our greatest accomplishments.

Now that we clarified the meaning of self-worth can impact your net-worth.

What is net-worth?

According to Investopedia.com – Net-worth is the amount by which assets exceed liabilities. Net-worth is a concept applicable to individuals and businesses as akey measure of how much an entity is worth.

As Jim Rohn brilliantly stated, “Your net-worth will likely never outperform your self-worth.

Here are 5 Simple Steps to Boost Your Self-Worth and Your Net-Worth:

  1. Ask yourself….What is your relationship with yourself? How do you treat yourself? How do others treat you? Having a healthy relationship with yourself improves your relationship with others. A great example of this is when they tell you to put your oxygen mask on first before you put it on anyone else. I have learned through my personal experiences as well as those with my clients that if we are not connected and emotionally available to ourselves, we cannot be connected and emotionally available to others.

So, what does a healthy self-relationship look like?

A healthy self-relationship is the ability to value yourself as a person and except and embrace your weaknesses.

A great place to start cultivating a healthy relationship with yourself is by caring for your physical needs. Including getting plenty of rest, eating a           well-balance nutrient rich diet and exercising daily.

Secondly, focusing on your inner world by regularly checking in with your emotions. Get connected with your spiritual self. Focus on joy by                    prioritizing activities that make you happy. What feeds your mind, body and spirit?

Thirdly, operate from integrity and stay true to your values and what is most important to you. Most often, how you treat yourself is how others              will treat you.

  1. Decide to Play Big. If you’re playing small then you are not serving the world with your gifts. Sometimes we shrink to fit, so we don’t stand out or because we are afraid that if we put ourselves out there we may fail. Another reason is because we don’t feel that we deserve success. In this case, there is often baggage that we’re punishing ourselves for. Whatever it may be, acknowledge it, release it and forgive yourself. You cannot make a change unless you’re willing to get real with yourself. It’s time to declare your independence and go after what you want. You deserve it!
  2. Create a clear vision of what you want. We talked about this in Chapter 2. In order to create a thriving, profitable business that you love, it is crucial to get clear on exactly what you want your life and business to look like. Visualize your ideal day of what you want to be doing, who you want to work with and how you can best serve them with your specific products and services. You can actually create the business of your dreams, on your terms…it’s really up to you!
  3. Decide who you will become to fulfill your vision. In order to reach your true potential you must become the best version of yourself. Are there any areas that you need to develop or grow in for you to be able to reach your goals? You may have heard of the popular saying by Tony Robbins – “If you’re not growing your dying.” This may sound harsh, but if you compare it to a plant or more specifically a fruit it makes perfect sense. Let’s look at an apple for instance. When an apple is still on the tree it’s growing. But, once it’s picked, it starts to die. This isn’t necessarily apparent, for example, when you see an apple at the grocery store, you don’t think of it as something that’s dying. In fact, you probably think the opposite, that the apple is ripe and it’s at its’ ideal state. However, this isn’t true. As a person you are not any different than that apple. Things may look great on the outside, fancy cars, big house, high salary etc. But, in many cases we are dying on the inside. Rotting when we appear ripe. A life where you’re unhappy, unfulfilled and unsatisfied. A life without meaning. What changes will you have to make to reclaim your life, be of service to others and live a life of passion.

Practice expecting the best. Be the person you strive to be- and your brain will follow.

  1. Do the impossible now. In order to achieve a high level of success in your life and/or business, you must push yourself beyond what you thought was possible. This requires getting uncomfortable and stepping outside your comfort zone on a regular basis. This is something that I practice consistently if there is an idea that I have or an opportunity that comes my way that makes my heart beat fast I know that it’s something I have to do! That’s where I’ve seen the biggest growth within myself is through those times that I stepped outside of my comfort zone. This is how you too can grow exponentially.

So in summary, we have learned how your self-worth impacts your level of success in your life and business.

Just to clarify, we’re not talking about self-worth and net-worth being tied solely to how much money you have (money does not make you who you are). We’re talking about how your concept of yourself calls the shots on the level of income or success you’re able to achieve. Your self-esteem and self-worth affects everything you have and do.
